Website and Clinical Disclaimer
Last updated:
The Open Way Therapy is the counseling practice of Tim Plucinsky, LPCC, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. This page explains, in plain terms, what this website is and is not, so you know what to expect.
This website is here to inform
Everything on this website is general information about the practice and about therapy here. It is meant to help you get a feel for how Tim works and whether it might be a good fit for you. It is not personal advice for your specific situation, and it is not a stand-in for a real conversation.
Reading or emailing does not start a therapy relationship
Visiting this website, reading it, or sending an email does not make you a client, and it does not create a therapist-client relationship. That relationship begins only after we have connected, talked about what you are looking for, agreed together that it is a good fit, and completed the appropriate steps to begin. Until then, please treat what you read here as general information.
Not a substitute for care
This website is not a substitute for professional mental health care, and nothing on it is a diagnosis or a treatment plan. If you are already working with a therapist, doctor, or other provider, that relationship matters, and nothing here is a reason to step away from it. When you have questions about your health, the best people to ask are the professionals who know your situation.
Where Tim is licensed
Tim is licensed in California and Colorado. Therapy is offered in person at the San Diego office and by telehealth across California, and by telehealth in Colorado. If you are located somewhere else, Tim may not be able to work with you directly, though you are always welcome to reach out and ask.
Email is not for emergencies
Email is a friendly way to get in touch, but the inbox is not monitored around the clock, and replies are not instant. Please do not use email for anything urgent.
If you are in crisis or need help now
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911.
If you are going through a crisis or a really hard moment and need support, you can call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, any time of day or night. Someone is there to talk. The Open Way Therapy is not a crisis or emergency service, and reaching one of these is the fastest way to get real help when you need it right away.
Links to other websites
From time to time this website may link to other places, such as a map service for directions to the office. Those websites are run by other people and organizations, and we are not responsible for their content. A link is not an endorsement.
